Baptism

Baptism

The sequence is, you hear the gospel, you believe, you get the Holy Spirit and then you get baptize. The word Baptism in the Greek, means to so immerse someone into something that it gives Change. Death, burial and resurrection of Christ. You are demonstrating your union in him. Being water baptized after being saved, is to be obedient to what the word of  God says.

Jesus said
go out into the world and make disciple of man and
baptizes them.

Mathew 28
19 Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: 20 teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

Colossians 2 ASV
12 having been buried with him in baptism, wherein ye were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.

Romans 6 ASV
3 Or are ye ignorant that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.

How many Baptisms do you think are in the Bible?
Here are some and see how many involve water?

Matthew 3
3 In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” 3 This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:

“A voice of one calling in the wilderness,

‘Prepare the way for the Lord,

make straight paths for him.

Baptism of John for repentance.

Matthew 11 to 12
11 “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

Jesus was baptized
not for repentance, He did not need that.

Jesus was baptized / the will of the Father/ God Said, this is my son, I am well pleased. It was a witness to the Sanhedrin and a witness to the leaders of Israel.

John 1 ASV
29 On the morrow he seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, that [r]taketh away the sin of the world! 30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man who is become before me: for he was [s]before me. 31 And I knew him not; but that he should be made manifest to Israel, for this cause came I baptizing [t]in water. 32 And John bare witness, saying, I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven; and it abode upon him. 33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize [u]in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth [v]in the Holy Spirit. 34 And I have seen, and have borne witness that this is the Son of God. upon Him. 33 I did not recognize Him [as the Messiah], but He who sent me to baptize [m]in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this One is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 I myself have [actually] seen [that happen], and my testimony is that this is the Son of God!” To take away sin of the world.

Matthew 3 ASV
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway from the water: and lo, the heavens were opened [h]unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon him; 17 and lo, a voice out of the heavens, saying, [i]This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Baptism:
Jesus Clearing his threshing floor.

Jesus before the cross.

Luke 12 ASV

Mark 10 ASV
38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup that I drink? or to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

Pentecost

Acts 1:5 ASV
5 for John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized [a]in the Holy Spirit not many days hence

At salvation

We were all placed into the body

1 Corinthians
13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

Baptism of Mosses.

1 Corinthians 10
1For I would not, brethren, have you ignorant, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 and were all baptized [a]unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

Baptism of Noah

1 Peter 3.21 World English Bible
20 who before were disobedient when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ship was being built. In it, few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. 21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you—not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
